Ci ostatni dowodzą, że w miarę jak kultura staje się coraz bardziej złożona, założenia badawcze Levi-Straussa tracą sens i nie mogą służyć jako fundament metody badawczej.
Na pewno książka nie przybliży nam obecnego stanu badań antropologicznych. Często jednak trzeba najpierw sięgnąć do klasyków, by zrozumieć późniejsze dzieła. Właśnie dlatego, dla wszystkich osób interesujących się antropologią kulturową i filozoficzną jest to dzieło obowiązkowe.
